UNDERWOOD COFFEE—RIDE LIKE LIGHTNING
SUMMARY—
Bringing an unwavering commitment to responsible sourcing and thoughtful roasting, Underwood Coffee produces approachable specialty coffees while staying firmly rooted in a passion for the craft. Graphic Science worked with founder Jake Underwood to create a unique packaging system and expand upon the brand's preexisting visual identity.
As a nod to Jake's hardworking, blue-collar roots—and love of all things vintage—we drew inspiration from a stack of his family's old photo albums. The bag's patterns were scanned directly from those albums, while the typography was inspired by various leaflets found within. Pivoting from the industry standard of assigning each coffee a color, we decided instead to represent each new roast with a carefully selected photo.
